Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes celebrated the holiday from sea-t0-shining-sea. But is a whole continent enough space or will these superstars collide and go super nova? Let’s see how they’re moving in in the wake of the announcement.
Tom Cruise wasn’t born on the 4th of July, he was born on the 3rd. This was the big 5-0 for Tom, a half-century of life. For obvious reasons he wasn’t going to spend it with Katie? So what did the star to to celebrate? According to E! Online, Tom invited friends and family over for a small gathering at his Beverly Hills home for a celebration that included his two older children, Connor and Isabella.
Katie Holmes, on the other hand, was about as far away from LA as you can get in the continental U.S. The “So You Think You Can Dance” star was spotted in New York City grabbing ice cream in the East Village. Katie seems to be making quite a show of her life moving on whereas Tom has refrained from making public appearances since the divorce announcement.
Tom had flown in to Los Angeles from Iceland where he was filming a new movie. However, that wasn’t the original plan for his 50th. Apparently the star was supposed to have spent his birthday with Katie and Suri in New York City, according to sources. They were, then, going to make their way over to the west coast. Those plans were immediately scrapped with Katie filed for divorce in New York State last week, shocking Tom and the rest of us.
