Since the story broke last week, we’ve heard a lot of noise coming from Katie Holmes’s camp, but not so much from team Tom Cruise. Was he really stunned as reported or is he playing a much savvier game? Apparently his silence speaks volumes about the “So You Think You Can Dance” star and their relationship.
Team Katie Holmes dealt the first blow by filing for divorce in New York City where Katie has a better chance of claiming custody of her daughter, Suri. All the while, Team Tom Cruise has remained largely silent other than reporting that he was “deeply saddened” by the news of the impeding divorce.
But the mega movie star’s lawyer, Bert Fields, confirmed to the BBC that Tom is planning to file his own divorce documents and has opted to let Katie “play the media” before deciding the best course of action. Basically giving her enough rope to hang herself before he launches into his counterattack. Isn’t love great?
“Tactically we can’t say where Tom will file a divorce case and if he’ll be seeking joint custody of Suri,” Fields said. ”We are letting ‘the other side’ play the media until they wear everyone out and then we’ll have something to say.”
So Tom does have some ammo in his back pocket? What do you think it will be? Katie’s a bad mom? She’s crazy? Unfit to be a parent?
“It’s not Tom’s style to do this publicly,” Fields said. “He is really sad about what’s happening.” So maybe he’ll just negotiate to keep the skeletons in the closet, and possibly more in the closet than just skeletons. But so far it seems like this is going to be one heated battle. Are we prepared for what Team Tom has to say?
