The ratings have been in a downward spiral for some time now, with the new cast not helping as much as Bravo had hoped. And with reports that Andy Cohen has “distanced himself” from the show, could it be that this is the last season of The Real Housewives of New York City?
Sources close to The Real Housewives of New York City say that the show itself is “safe” from being cancelled, but there is talk of yet another major cast shakeup, depending on who you ask.
While Bravo’s spokesperson says that “it is much too early to even think about the next season,” and that the network is “thrilled” with the current cast, we all know that in the entertainment industry, they’re ALWAYS thinking about the next season.
A source tells the New York Daily News that the ratings for season 5 have “not been what [Bravo] expected,” especially after making such a big change in the make-up of the cast by firing Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon, and one-timer Cindy Barshop.
Now, rumor has it that rather than scrapping the show, the powers that be are toying with the idea of “potentially jiggling” up the cast ahead of season 6.
OR, will Bravo consider bringing back some of the Housewives who were given the boot after season 4?
