Is This The Last Season of The Real Housewives of New York City?!

July 08, 2012 07:00 AM by Shayla Perry

The ratings have been in a downward spiral for some time now, with the new cast not helping as much as Bravo had hoped. And with reports that Andy Cohen has “distanced himself” from the show, could it be that this is the last season of The Real Housewives of New York City?

Never fear.

Sources close to The Real Housewives of New York City say that the show itself is “safe” from being cancelled, but there is talk of yet another major cast shakeup, depending on who you ask.

While Bravo’s spokesperson says that “it is much too early to even think about the next season,” and that the network is “thrilled” with the current cast, we all know that in the entertainment industry, they’re ALWAYS thinking about the next season.

A source tells the New York Daily News that the ratings for season 5 have “not been what [Bravo] expected,” especially after making such a big change in the make-up of the cast by firing Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon, and one-timer Cindy Barshop.

Now, rumor has it that rather than scrapping the show, the powers that be are toying with the idea of  “potentially jiggling” up the cast ahead of season 6.

Does this mean that the next season of The Real Housewives of New York City won’t include Ramona Singer, LuAnn de Lesseps, and Sonja Morgan? After all, they are the common denominator here.

OR, will Bravo consider bringing back some of the Housewives who were given the boot after season 4?

i think they should bring back jill kelly and alex and get rid of the new members
the new cast is very boring the other cast was entertaining and funny
they argued yes but had a great connection that kept them friends
i totally miss the older cast VERY much and miss them terribly

I think they should bring back Jill and dump crazy eyes Ramona. Some of the new cast is OK, but Ramona is sooooo annoying, I can’t believe they kept her on at all. Heather and Carol are not really fun to watch either; crazy Kelly and bombastic Jill were much more fun.

Hi im a great fan of the show over here,But we are far behind in episodes, however we all love jill Zarin, she is funny, and love her/ramona cat fights love it hate it there great together,
Alex and that creepy simon are social climbers who have nothing, just nobodys, how they got in the program is a joke, ha ha maybe he fooled the producers. fake fake con artists. badly behaved scruffy brats thoses two kids aswell. bethany was also great bring her/jill back pronto. xx

First get rid of LUMAN…..the plot line with her trying to get pregnant insults one’s intelligence. Do not bring back any of the former cast. Their interaction was migraine worthy. Give the new cast an opportunity to develope.

Hi im a huge fan of the show!!
I don’t think it would be a good idea to get rid of anyone from the present cast. They need to bond and develop an interaction with one another.
Having said that bringing back Jill, Bethany or crazy Kelly may spice things up a bit and would be fun to watch.

Jill should be back on the show. Even though she’s absolutely weird the show definitely needs LuAnn. No show without Ramona. I would like to see Alex again. I like Carole but she is the wrong character for the show – Not Crazy enough.

The UK has just been introduced to series 6 and it isn’t great, to say the least. Series 5 had great personalties and it was a shame most were dropped. Despite the arguments, there was a real connection – afterall in real life we all experience ups and downs. Jill, Kelly and even Cindy, who tends not to get a mention, translated well here in the UK. Alex on the otherhand was .. well strange but even she brought some value to the entertainment (we all like a baddie). Please Bravo (Andy) bring back some of the oldies – it would be great to hear what they got up to during their gap year.
