The Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise divorce battle could cool down before it heats up. What could prevent the superstar couple from airing all their dirty laundry in public? And will the “So You Think You Can Dance” star get sole custody of Suri?
According to TMZ, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise have stopped publicly fighting in hopes that their very expensive legal teams can call some sort of ignoble truce between the couple.
Sources are saying that the couple will not appear in court in New York City or Los Angeles anytime soon (so no chance of the couple bumping into Lindsay Lohan in the courtroom halls). The hope is to remain outside the halls of justice unless the negotiations completely desolve into chaos. A lot might depend on the custody arrangement. Rumors are flying that Katie wants her daughter to have nothing to do with the Church of Scientology.
The legal teams are discussing the major issues of child custody, visitation, child support and a property settlement.
Katie Holmes has filed in New York in order to have an easier go at getting full custody of Suri. Those close to the case are saying that if all goes well, the proceedings will stay in New York instead of moving the case back to Los Angeles where Tom wants it to go down — and a place more likely to order joint custody.
A source near the legal proceedings described them as “calm.” This is far different than the allegations that have been flying from Katie’s camp for the past week regarding Scientology and Tom Cruise controlling her life. Perhaps cooler heads have prevailed before the real dirt starts getting flung in each direction.
