Everyone’s busy spreading rumors as to whether or not American Idol alum Adam Lambert will be returning to the show as a judge. But it looks like he’s not the only person being recruited for the lofty role of Idol judge. Katy Perry recently squashed rumors about a potential full-time return to American Idol. Keep reading to find out why!
Katy Perry enjoys being a guest judge on American Idol from time to time, but that doesn’t mean she’s planning on taking on a more permanent role. The star explains that, while being on American Idol could be fun, it also would be take a huge time commitment. And time is something Katy Perry is already short on. “People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and it’s not right for me yet. It’s a real commitment to be on one of those shows.”
Perry also had plenty to say about a few of the washed-up stars (Paula?!) American Idol has taken on in the past. “I find it completely hilarious when they hire people that are not current in music and haven’t been for a decade or longer. Or if they’re not even in music. How are you going to give a perspective when you haven’t even lived that perspective?”
With the release of a successful new album and a movie on the way, you can’t blame Katy Perry for turning down a potentially time-consuming venture. Still, it would have been pretty awesome to see her on American Idol! Hopefully, she’ll continue to return as a guest judge from time to time.
