The Biggest Loser Looking For “Appreciative” Contestants For Season 14

July 10, 2012 02:00 PM by Lisa Princ

NBC‘s The Biggest Loser won’t be returning until January of 2013, but all of the fans who witnessed the complete nightmare last season can rejoice for the new season. Why? Because the show is looking for more appreciative contestants for the upcoming season! Hooray for not having to deal with anymore Condas! Keep reading for more…

That’s right, the new season of The Biggest Loser on NBC will not include any ungrateful contestants, or at least the casting department is doing their best to avoid that happening again. In a recent interview, supervising casting producer Brandon Nickens told Yahoo news: “For Season 14, we’re doing things a little differently. Instead of looking for someone that meets a certain profile, we’re asking the question, ‘How deserving are they?’ We’re looking for real, genuine people who will appreciate this opportunity to change their lives! It’s really a golden ticket! We spend four to five months searching for the ideal candidates for this show and we listen to their personal stories.”

And the casting team is dead set on keep the dramatics to a minimum for the new season, as Brandon added: “We’re looking for people who are willing to be vulnerable…give in to the process. We’re also looking for strong personalities and positive energy – no drama or conflicts. Our team is really serious about making this a ‘feel-good’ show.” Of course, the show is probably doing so after learning how upset the fans were last season, which eventually led to a ratings drop for the show. Brandon also revealed that the new season will kick off on January 1, 2013 – what a way to start the new year!

Now we can rejoice! Hopefully, this means next season will full of grateful contestants who truly want and deserve to be there!

I will be so glad to see BL back on tv. It is my incentive to loose weight. This show helps me push myself and fight late night cravings. Thank you to all involved in making this show. You can bet I will be watching come January 1.

What great news! I didn’t realize ratings had dropped, but I certainly understand why. Only a few of the contestants were even likable in season 13, and I was tempted to not watch the finale because I didn’t care for anyone in the finals at all. I am surprised that the casting producers made such big mistakes that season. I love the show for how it does change people’s lives, but it is difficult to watch people pout and whine and be generally ungrateful. I waited all season for someone, anyone, to make a mental breakthrough and change their attitude, but it never happened. Can’t wait to meet the next, hopefully lovable, cast! But January? I was hoping for September. But I’m grateful for it whenever it airs :)

Thank you!!!! That last season was the worst ever. It was crossing over into the garbage “Housewives” type of reality show. Thanks for stepping up and making a change for the better. Which is what this show is all about anyway.

I totally agree, I hate the drama. I love to see the contestant work and support each other. I would so love to be on this show and could really use it. But, I am not able to take time off work to do it. So I am looking forward to the new season and some new recipe tips.

The news that tighter standards are being used is a blessing to hear. Like others, I felt that season 13 was the worst season to date. When I think about the millions people who would give anything to be on the show (this includes myself)and were not selected, it makes me highly upset to witness such unappreciation by some of the ones who were selected. Kudo’s to tighter screening- and hopefully I will be one of the contestents in the future… Let’s bring more integrity to a show that highlights a serious problem in today’s society.
