Two words swimsuits and slushies! On tonight’s episode of The Glee Project the contenders must strip down to swimsuits for their music video and have a slushie fight! Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jane Lynch guest stars on the Oxygen reality TV competition. Keep reading to find out who stays and who gets eliminated.
While the contestants on The Glee Project are Glee fans, they’re also aspiring singers hoping to get their big break and the chance to be on their favorite TV show. The contenders must embrace their fears for this week’s challenge.
The 9 remaining contestants are Abraham, Ali, Aylin, Blake, Charlie, Lily Mae, Michael, Nellie and Shanna. The hopefuls must dance and sing their way onto the Glee set. Most of them haven’t had a lot of professional experience but each week the contestants must learn the lyrics to songs, work on their vocal delivery and learn choreography!
All are vying for the grand prize–a seven episode arc on Glee and they waste no time getting started. The mentors are Robert Ulrich, Zach Woodlee and Nikki Anders.
For the homework assignment, the cast must sing “Now That We Found Love” by Heavy D and The Boyz. They decided to do some fun choreography which totally impresses Jane Lynch! She picks Lily Mae as the winner of the homework assignment. During their one-on-one lesson, Jane says Lily Mae reminds her of herself.
Jane Lynch tells the remaining contestants they will be performing a mash up of Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” and Blondie’s “One Way or Another.” The contenders are super excited but Jane isn’t done yet–she also announces that they will be having a slushie fight!
The setting for the music video is a high school pool featuring the contestants as the swim team who get into a huge slushie fight. Having a slushie thrown on you has been described a number of ways from previous contestants–explaining that it’s cold, burning, sticky etc. One by one the contenders have their turn putting their best face forward for the Glee initiation. Ali decides she wants to do it so with some help; she gets out of her wheelchair and sits on a bench to have multiple slushies thrown at her. In the beginning she takes it like a champ but the cold temperature really affects her and she says she can’t breathe! The crew immediately stops and medical professionals put towels on her to keep her warm. Ali then dives into the pool and surfaces with a big smile on her face much to the delight of her fellow cast mates. That was a close call but Ali embraced this week’s challenge and faced her fears!
Unfortunately, Nellie, Charlie and Aylin are selected to be in the bottom three. Aylin sings “Take a Bow” by Rihanna while Charlie sings Tom Jones’ “It’s Not Unusual” and changes the lyrics to be about him in the competition, jumps off stage and sits next to the judges to serenade them–we definitely think that’s fearless! Finally, Nellie sings Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy.”
Ryan Murphy tells the mentors he feels like he has repeatedly told Charlie to really make an effort to concentrate during the competition but he still gets distracted; that Nellie needs to show confidence in her work and that Aylin needs to be more vulnerable.
In the end, Charlie is eliminated and his time on The Glee Project comes to an end.
