Guess Which Dancing With The Stars Alum Just Landed A Judging Gig on a New Reality Show?

July 11, 2012 12:30 PM by Shayla Perry

Everyone knows that Dancing With The Stars does wonders for reviving careers. (Okay, maybe there were a few exceptions.) After appearing on the hit ABC series, one celeb is getting back into reality TV with a new job as the judge in yet another talent competition. Who is it, and what’s the show about? We’ve got all the details.

Who’s the latest Dancing With The Stars alum to cash in on their time spent on the ABC reality series?

None other than legendary soul singer, Gladys Knight!

BET’s sister network, Centric, has tapped the “Midnight Train to Georgia” singer to serve as the lead judge in a new singing competition called Apollo Live.

The series will be filmed at the historic Apollo Theater in New York, putting a spin on the famous “Amateur Night” showcase, which helped launch the careers of a number of talented acts over the years.

Joining Gladys Knight on the judges’ panel will be rapper Doug E. Fresh, and Michael Bivins of New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe.

Bivins also appeared on MTV‘s Making the Band with P. Diddy, helping the rap mogul form R&B group Day 26.

Those aren’t the only big names attached to the project either. The show will be executive produced by Jamie Foxx and hosted by comedian and actor, Tony Rock (not to be confused with Chris Rock).

A prize for the winning act has yet to be determined, but Apollo Live is set to premiere this fall on Centric.
