Tali Clavijo was one of the more controversial “characters” this season on MasterChef and his mouth isn’t slowing down off the show either. What did he have to say about his time on the show, Gordon Ramsay and eventual elimination? Reality TV Magazine has the exclusive interview…
Tali Clavijo has always seemed a little into himself, so what better topic could there be for him to talk about in an interview than, well, himself.
“My food speaks for itself and I was not just expecting to get to the top 100, but to the top 10 and beyond,” said the oh-so-humble Tali. “My MasterChef audition dish was Menage a Duck, duck three ways…I was surprised I didn’t get three ‘yes’s.’ Joe said no!”
And when it comes to the judges, Tali doesn’t have a lot of respect for their methods or their manners. “The judges are very traditional with their food. I am very modern and not traditional…that was like wearing a scarlet letter. The judges gave me a lot of crap for it.”
Poor persecuted Tali — just a misunderstood artist ahead of his time. Maybe that’s why he had to leave the MasterChef kitchen ahead of the other top contenders.
“The judges balk at non-traditional methods. So when I was working with the Arctic Char, Gordon Ramsay didn’t like what I was doing right off the bat. He already had negative comments and bad body language before he even tasted it.”
Tali didn’t think he deserved to turn in his apron before Christine or David. “Christine’s fish was dry…David’s was raw! Do you know how expensive Yellowtail is? And to mess it up! And just because I overcooked some lentils, I went home?” Don’t think it was just because of the lentils Tali.
But just in case you haven’t had enough of Tali he will be doing some event demos in the Chicago area and has a new book he’s writing in addition to pitching a show about, what else, him!
