Steven Tyler shocked us yesterday, when the American Idol judge announced he would be following Jennifer Lopez by leaving Idol. While Tyler claims it is to spend more time focusing on Aerosmith, we can’t help but wonder if there was pressure put on him to step down. Hmm….
Only hours after Jennifer Lopez mentioned that she would likely be leaving American Idol, Steven Tyler followed suit and announced that he would not be returning for the new season. While Tyler claimed that his departure was to focus more on his band, Aerosmith, folks are buzzing about whether or not he was pressured to leave.
But who could pressure the legendary Steven Tyler? Well, for one, his band mates. It was no secret that when Steven signed on to Idol, Aerosmith was not happy about it. Joe Perry even went as far as to say that he did not want the band’s name associated with the show, but eventually, they all made nice and surprised American Idol fans with an Aerosmith performance last season. But, the band could have very well pressured Tyler into leaving.
Another thought is that the big wigs at Idol were pressuring Tyler. It’s no secret that they want to switch things up a bit, draw more ratings, and bring in some fresh faces for the new season – although, we are not quite sure that the likes of Charlie Sheen will do it. Could they have pressured him into stepping down, so they would not have to fire him? Could be, and it would certainly make sense since Jennifer Lopez will likely not return either.
