Nick Cannon: American Idol Will Have To Pony Up For Mariah Carey

July 16, 2012 01:00 PM by Stephanie Gustafson

Things must be crazy for the American Idol producers right now! They’ve sacked said goodbye to judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez and could be on the verge of getting rid of long-time judge Randy Jackson. If the show is going to run next season, America is going to need some replacements! Reports have surfaced surrounding American Idol’s ill-fated efforts to bring on Mariah Carey. According to Carey’s hubby Nick Cannon, that won’t happen anytime soon! Why? Keep reading to find out!

With JLo and Steven Tyler out, American Idol is going to need some big names in order to emerge from its massive ratings slump. Right now, the show’s producers are reportedly trying to attract the attention of the lovely Mariah Carey. If Carey did end up on Idol, she could be reunited with Randy Jackson (that is, if they don’t dump him too). Jackson has worked extensively with Mariah Carey, taking the role of musical director on several of the pop diva’s tours. They certainly would make an interesting duo!

Mariah Carey’s husband Nick Cannon doesn’t think that his wife will be on American Idol in the near future, simply because of money matters. The America’s Got Talent host told TMZ that he doubted Idol’s ability to afford Mariah Carey. “That’s a lot of money. If they gave JLo $20 million, they might have to double that!”

Still, Cannon concedes that Carey could end up as a judge on American Idol. “I don’t know! I’m not her manager; I’m her husband…you never know.”

Hmm, maybe we’ll see a reality show power couple next fall! Do you think Mariah Carey would make a good addition to the Idol judging panel? Sound off below!

Mariah……are you kidding me? She’s so not cool anymore. Besides, if she needs more than $20 mil as her hubby suggests, then it’s obvious she’s too full of herself to be a judge of anything. I’m shocked Idol waited until the last minute to figure this out….no wonder the ratings are slipping. There hasn’t been any talent of significance on that show since Adam Lambert. Carrie Underwood is the only other star power standout coming from the Idol stage. Lets see…..two real star in how many seasons??? No wonder ratings are sagging. I’m all but a non-watcher these days. Idol has become boring.

I want a rotating seat of Idol Alumni. That would being back some fans as well as promote success.

They don’t need names to bring people back, they need decent judging, something that has been mising for years – Goosies – really? Enough with people all about themselves.
