Okay, now we’re confused! And apparently, we’re not the only ones. After announcing that she wouldn’t be returning to American Idol for Season 12, so she can focus on other aspects of her career (though we’re hoping that doesn’t mean more movies), in her latest interview with ABC News, Jennifer Lopez made it sound as though the deal isn’t necessarily done. So, will she be back for Season 12 of the FOX reality show, or not?
Just when we were starting to put together our fantasy judging panel, Jennifer Lopez stunned us all in a new interview with Good Morning America‘s Amy Robach.
From Montreal, where the pop superstar is currently on tour with Enrique Iglesias (swoon!), Lopez told Robach that she has “decided to move on” from American Idol after just two seasons with the hit singing competition.
“I love them, they love me, and it’s hard when I feel like I should move on,” Jennifer explained, adding, “I don’t know, I don’t know if it’s even done yet.”
According to a report from the Hollywood trade paper, The Wrap, Lopez’s people went into negotiations asking for a $2 million dollar raise for the singer (so her love DOES cost a thing!), but FOX “surprised her” by not making a counteroffer.
Does this mean that she’s thinking about settling for less money and staying on for at least one more season?
We’re thinking: No!
Though she admits “it’s hard to walk away” from the contestants, JLo eventually confirms that she IS “moving on.”
What helped her make her decision – other than that $2 million? Steven Tyler‘s exit!
Lopez says that when Steven revealed that he wasn’t returning to the show, she knew that it was her time to bow out gracefully as well, saying that the two of them, along with Randy Jackson, had great chemistry, and that it wouldn’t feel right with someone else on board.
