Duets Recap: Who’s Walking Away With A Solo Career?
July 19, 2012 07:15 PM by Shayla Perry
It’s finally here! The season finale of ABC‘s Duets. Which of the final three amateurs will be walking away with the grand prize — a solo recording contract? Get all the highlights after the jump.
Kicking off the finale, Kelly Clarkson (finally able to walk again) and Jennifer Nettles rock out to “Would I Lie to You,” before an overdressed Quddus introduces all eight amateurs, who apparently wasted their time showing up, because some of them didn’t even get to speak! At least they had some of the best seats in the house.
John Legend and his final amateur, Bridget Carrington, hit the stage to perform The Rolling Stones’ “Give Me Shelter,” followed by a steamy rendition of “Fever” from Robin Thicke and Olivia Chisholm.
Is it wrong that we’re more excited about seeing Robin perform this one than we are about Olivia coming back? We know it’s been a season of ups and downs, but we’re finally back to loving him again, and this performance only reminds us of why.
After what seems like a very long wait, John Glosson and Jennifer Nettles begin the performances from the finalists, sounding lovely as always.
Then, Jason Farol and Kelly Clarkson throwback to Elvis Presley’s “Heartbreak Hotel,” before J Rome and Jennifer Nettles dance to the “Rhythm of the Night.”
None of the performances were as good as the amateurs could have done, but we’re sure that nerves played a big part in that. And besides, it’s not like they were angling for votes tonight anyway.
It was the performances from last week that mattered, and the deciding factor in tonight’s results.
So who walked away with the grand prize?
In third place, is Kelly’s Clarkson’s smiley amateur Jason Farol, leaving the competition between Jennifer’s two contenders.
And the winner is… J Rome!
What did you think of season 1 of Duets? Are you happy that J Rome won, or do you think the top prize should have gone to someone else? Sound off in the Comments section below.

J Rome…totally deserved! John and Jason were good, too, but J blew them away each time! Love the show!

What’s the results of the voting? The numbers wise? Will you publish it? I think most people want it to know.

I totally agree with, J Rome had it from the beginning and he did Whitney Houston song I knew he had it, Jennifer was great as while, I did know whom she was until Duets she’s an entertainer.

Best performer probably won. But best voice? I don’t know…John has one of the most pure tenor voices I’ve ever heard! He and Jennifer should make a cd…their voices sound awesome together!!! Hope the show is on next year….I’ll be waiting.
