It’s safe to say… Gordon Ramsay makes a lot of dough (no pun intended)! We know Gordon Ramsay best as the no-nonsense chef who stars in Hell’s Kitchen, MasterChef, and Kitchen Nightmares. Ramsay also has 24 restaurants, 11 Michelin stars, and several cookbooks attached to his name. Putting it all together, Ramsay now tops the list of highest earning chefs in the US. Just how much dough are we talking about here? And who else made the list? Keep reading for all the details.
Gordon Ramsay earned an estimated $38 million for the year, placing himself at the top of the chef list. Ramsay beat out Rachael Ray, who earned an estimated $25 million. Chef Wolfgang Puck came in third with $20 million. Rounding out the top five are TV personality Paula Deen and restaurateur Mario Batali, who also stars in ABC’s The Chew.
“They are very diversified,” said Dorothy Pomerantz of Forbes.com. “There is nobody who just has restaurants. TV is a huge factor in making this list because they make so much more money from television than they can from their restaurants.”
Not quite satisfied, I guess, Gordon Ramsay will soon be adding another Fox show to his resume! “Gordon is amazing to work with and no matter what the premise, he delivers every time,” says Mike Darnell, president of alternative entertainment at Fox. “With an unprecedented three shows already on the air, Gordon is an incredible television success, and we’re really thrilled to put him through Hotel Hell.”
Hotel Hell will follow the same format as Kitchen Nightmares. As a huge fan of Kitchen Nightmares, I’m looking forward to Hotel Hell, even though once it airs I’m afraid I may never want to sleep in one again!
You, too, can help Ramsay fill his mattress with dollar bills! Tune in to Hotel Hell on Fox on Monday, August 13 at 9 p.m. ET and Tuesday, August 14 at 9 p.m. ET.
