Since yesterday, the nation has been consumed with the tragic news of the shooting in Aurora, Colorado. Now, another sad event has occurred in a different region and under a completely different set of circumstances: Usher’s stepson has been taken off life support. Although not blood related, Usher and his stepson were reportedly very close. How is the singer and former Extreme Makeover: Home Edition star taking this recent development? Read on for more.
Last week, we told you how Usher’s stepson Kile Glover was declared brain dead following a jet ski accident. Now, we’re sorry to say that Glover has passed on. The doctors decided early Saturday that the 11-year-old’s injuries were too severe to offer any hope of recovery. He was taken off life support shortly thereafter.
The decision to take Kile Glover off of life support surely could not have been an easy one. Tameka Foster (Glover’s mother and Usher’s ex) deliberated at length but ultimately her decision after the doctors informed her of the extreme unlikelihood of a recovery. Some have speculated that the decision may have been partially influenced by finances, as Foster’s insurance company would only cover hospital visits for a limited period of time. Foster’s and Usher’s reps have not yet commented on the decision or its aftermath. Whether finances played a role or not, it had to have been a heartbreaking choice to make.
Our hearts go out to Tameka Foster, Usher and their families during this difficult time. There are few things more tragic than having to bury a child at the age of 11.
