A performer for eight years, Nellie was also a vocalist with a local swing band before competing on The Glee Project. She was a fan favorite on the second season of the reality TV competition before being eliminated.
Nellie says she learned a very important lesson from The Glee Project. “A new level of confidence and reassuring myself that I am going to do this for a while and I want this to be part of my career.” She said.
In addition to acting, Nellie says that music will always have a place in her life explaining, “I’m always going to be pursuing music that’s for sure! It’s my passion and I love writing and that’s just going to be happening always.”
After her elimination, Nellie was a trending topic on Twitter. She says her experience has been life-changing. “It’s been incredible and I definitely wasn’t expecting it,” adding “I think the fact that I am really relatable has touched a lot of people and it’s really amazing.”
While she wasn’t happy that her time on the show came to an end, Nellie says she grew as an artist. “In the end although it was frustrating in the moment I thank them for it because my comfort zone has now officially been expanded into something that it never would have been.”
Throughout the competition, Nellie says her most challenging week was, “Probably sexuality because initially I was convinced that I was going home that week!” She remembered.
There’s one thing Nellie says she hopes will continue, “The fan response to me and what I represent on the show has been really, really exciting and inspiring.”
