Alex McCord and her husband Simon van Kempen are coming back to reality TV. No, they’re not coming back to Bravo‘s Real Housewives of New York; they’re joining VH1. What TV show is the notoriously glued-to-the-hip couple known as “Silex” shockingly joining?
Alex and Simon will be on Couples Therapy! They will be joined by dysfunctional couples, such as Vienna Girardi and Kasey Kahl of Bachelor Pad and Hulk Hogan’s ex-wife Linda Hogan and her much-younger boyfriend. It was kind of shocking to read that Silex would join a show for messed-up relationships, being that they were so seemingly unified and calm as a couple on The Real Housewives of New York. What could have gone wrong?
Reality television can complicate relationships; the Housewives’ divorce rate can certainly attest to that. Financial issues are another huge factor in relationship problems–perhaps being without the Bravo paycheck has made life a little less easy for Alex and Simon. But maybe Alex and Simon aren’t facing those issues. Could it be possible they are exaggerating whatever “couples therapy” issues they have in order to reappear on television? Several Housewives stars have admitted to amping up the drama in order to be entertaining on camera, such as Jill Zarin and Tamra Barney.
Why do you suppose Alex and Simon are on Couples Therapy? Do you care? If they are actually having issues, why would reality TV be the place to solve them?
