Who would bring the perfect balance to American Idol with a diva like Mariah Carey and the ultimate “dawg,” Randy Jackson? How ’bout country crooner Brad Paisley? Rumor has it that Paisley is currently being considered to join the judges’ panel on the FOX reality show, but are the producers thinking about filling two more chairs, and not just one? All the details after the jump.
So, maybe we’ll still be seeing three new judges on the panel when American Idol returns for its 12th season.
According to sources in “the biz,” now that Mariah Carey is on board, veteran judge Randy Jackson will be keeping his spot on the show instead of returning as a mentor, as previously reported.
Deadline reveals that country superstar Brad Paisley is being considered to fill the third chair; which makes sense, since many Idols end up in that genre anyway. And it helps that he’s very “Idol-friendly,” having performed with former contestants, and taken recent winner, Scotty McCreery, under his wing while touring together.
BUT, the biggest surprise is that the judges’ table might have four people sitting there for Season 12, not three.
What do you think RTVM: Is Brad Paisley a good match for Mariah Carey and Randy Jackson on American Idol? Do you think there should be four judges on the panel this season, or should the producers stick to three? Sound off in the Comments section below.
