NBC Exec Responds to Sharon Osbourne’s Cryptic Tweet: “Much Ado About Nothing”

July 25, 2012 11:52 AM by Shayla Perry

Is America’s Got Talent going to be minus one Sharon Osbourne next season? That, we still don’t know, as she has yet to clarify what she meant when tweeting that she’s “not returning” to the show on Tuesday (July 24). But according to NBC‘s Entertainment Chairman, Bob Greenblatt, the story – if there even is one – isn’t as buzzworthy as the media seems to think. What’s going on?

Well, if Sharon Osbourne is planning to leave America’s Got Talent, NBC hasn’t gotten that memo yet.

We’re sure that a tweet doesn’t qualify as putting in your two weeks notice, so, we’re thinking it’s safe to say that – at least for now – the rumors of her exit are false.

Where did it all begin?

In response to a post on the Howard Stern Show’s official Twitter page that said she may not come back to AGT if she isn’t paid enough, Osbourne tweeted to her fellow judge:

“Money is not the reason I’m not returning. It’s because…”

This, naturally, caused a flurry of speculation from the media and fans alike, followed by…NOTHING.

No mention on Tuesday night‘s LIVE episode; nothing in her tweets…just NOTHING.

So, like Bob Greenblatt, we’re left to think that the whole thing was “much ado about nothing,” until Sharon decides to let us know if there really is something to her mysterious tweet.

In the meantime, we’ll start thinking of her replacement…just in case.

Side note: Does the fact that there hasn’t been much mention of Howard Stern’s possible exit from the show say anything about what fans think of him?
