The ninth season of So You Think You Can Dance is well under way. Last night, another two SYTYCD contestants were cut, leaving the current total at just fourteen dancers. Of these, host Cat Deeley and longtime judge Mary Murphy each have a few favorites. Keep reading to see who made the list.
Cat Deeley and Mary Murphy have become fixtures on So You Think You Can Dance. Both ladies absolutely love seeing new talent year after year. They have been particularly impressed with the top twenty dancers this season, doling out plenty of praise both on and off screen. In a short chat with The Huffington Post, the SYTYCD leading ladies were asked to list the dancers they viewed as the cream of the crop.
Well, actually, Mary’s a little reluctant to name names right now. She loves ‘em all too much! Now, the obvious hot tamale of last season was Melanie Moore, and Mary’s not afraid to say that she jumped on that train early. “Last year, I was very honest that I thought Melanie Moore would be a frontrunner, and obviously she was and went on to win. Every week, she never let us down.” But things are different this year. Mary thinks that the caliber of the dancing makes her job tough. “[The dancers] don’t look like they’ve moved one finger wrong. It’s very difficult to judge — they look so brilliant.”
Cat had no problem listing off her faves so far. In first place is “Matthew, who’s like the Ryan Gosling beauty.” We’d chastise Cat for going for the eye candy, but Matthew really is an amazing dancer. Other favorites include Cole, Witney, and “Cyrus, the animator, who kind of blows my mind…He looks like a flip book — it’s weird.”
