Jennifer Lopez is finished with American Idol, and according to current America’s Got Talent judge Howard Stern, it’s good riddance. Howard claims that Jennifer Lopez was too concerned with her career to make a decent judge. Does anybody else smell a little irony? Keep reading to learn what else Howard had to say about JLo.
Howard Stern has opinions and he’s not afraid to share them! The America’s Got Talent judge thinks that Jennifer Lopez could have used a bit of that same fortitude on American Idol. While chatting with Showbiz tonight, admitted, “I was critical of JLo because I felt she never said anything negative.” He has a point; JLo was known as the nicey-nice judge on American Idol.
According to Howard, JLo’s judging style follows a growing trend in reality TV competitions. “I think a lot of the judges are not that good at judging. They’re more interested in promoting their own careers.” Huh, sound familiar? Oh right, Howard’s talking about JLo, not himself. He added to his criticism, “[American Idol] helped [JLo's] career, she went very far. She suddenly got back on the charts and the show was good for her. And it became more about JLo.”
So, what makes a good judge? Howard thinks the criteria includes “a very exact opinion” as well as plenty of “constructive criticism.” Well, Howard does fit the bill for “exact opinion,” but we don’t know if his criticism is always that constructive.
Do you think Howard Stern follows his own judging advice? Or is there room for improvement? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below!
