Is Brad Paisley Getting Closer To Signing A Deal With ‘American Idol’?

July 31, 2012 01:00 PM by Shayla Perry

Is American Idol about to get a little bit country in Season 12? Last week, rumors began to surface that producers of the FOX reality show were considering adding country superstar Brad Paisley to the judges’ panel with veteran Randy Jackson and newbie Mariah Carey (and possibly, a fourth!). It looked like Paisley wouldn’t even be able to entertain the idea with such a busy touring schedule ahead. So why are sources now saying that the “Remind Me” singer may actually be inching toward a deal? All the details after the jump.

After eleven seasons, American Idol may finally have a country music artist on the judges’ panel when they return in January. And that artist just may be singer/songwriter Brad Paisley.

Earlier, it was reported that Paisley was being considered to join Randy Jackson and newcomer Mariah Carey on the panel for Season 12, but just when we were starting to like the thought of that particular trio, a quick glance at his touring schedule suggested that there might be a bit of a conflict. Besides, isn’t that the reason Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler supposedly had to give up their chairs…because they weren’t able to juggle the show and their busy careers?

Well, as it turns out, there still may be hope.

Apparently, Brad is still in play, and he may actually be close to reaching a deal.

Insiders say that Paisley and his team are meeting with executives from American Idol this week in Los Angeles to discuss the possibilities…and we’re sure MONEY.

The show is reportedly trimming their budget ahead of Season 12, and with Mariah bringing in about $20 million, that can’t leave too much “wiggle room” for whomever they bring on to fill the third chair.

What do you think RTVM: Do you want Brad Paisley to join the American Idol judges’ panel, or are you hoping that someone else gets the gig? Sound off in the Comments section below.

I lost interest in American Idol last year because before they even got into the judging portion, it was more tabout the drama and the sickness, than about singing and talent. Needless to say, I love Brad Paisley and he would be one reason I would tune back in. Athough I have to say that not sure if even Brad Paisley is enough to make me want to watch Mariah Carey. I don’t care for her at all, despite the fact that she has a beautfiful voice, she is too full of herself and to much of a diva. You think J Lo was bad about making the show all about her…viewers haven’t seen anything yet until get to see the world’s biggest diva in action.

Would love to see Brad, too bad Toby Keith could not he is a record producer with his own label, could definitely be up there with Randy. Not sure why Mariah was the whole point of Steven and J-Lo leaving would be to put actual people in those position who have experience managing and developing stars and producing hits. I am lost on Mariah. Is she another Paula? Mariah has had her problems with the bottle same as Paula. How many times was Paula visibily intoxicated on camera. come on. Last year I was so disappointed with the show I barely watched because they were making lame choices. It is about the singing the next great talent not the self promoting of ones career. this never happend with the other judges. I do not want to see Mariah on stage self promoting at all. If she gets on stage it better be to do a duet with one of the contestants.
