If you haven’t learned by now that you need to keep an ample supply of tissues handy while watching ABC‘s NY Med, you’ll definitely remember after tonight’s episode, when the world’s greatest pediatric heart surgeon, Dr. Jan Quaegebeur, attempts to remove a tumor the size of a golf ball that’s lodged in the heart of a 4-year-old girl. Yeah…pretty amazing.
Weeks ago on NY Med, we were reminded of the fact that boobs rule the world. And you can take that however you want. Well, tonight, ABC’s newest reality hit gave us another pearl of wisdom: Never piss off a nurse; especially if that nurse is one Diana Costine.
In the ER, she and Katie Duke handle everything, from a man with a gunshot wound, who’s being yelled at by his mother for getting shot, to a man whom they bring back to life after finding him outside of the hospital, and the man complaining of pain in his stomach, who they find has been eating metal objects. Ring, keys, paper clips, screws…if you’re missing ‘em, chances are, this guy ate ‘em.
But they’re not the only ones doing big things. Dr. Valeria Simone is a surgeon with some spice…and very high heels. And when the metal-eating man returns, she’s responsible for removing the bunch of paper clips that he swallowed from his stomach.
Not as daunting a task as what Dr. Jan Quaegebauer, aka Dr. Q, has ahead of him, though.
The world’s greatest pediatric heart surgeon, Dr. Q is treating 4-year-old Petra Gammon, who has a large tumor in her heart.
Her parents are terrified about sending their daughter into surgery, but know that she’s in very capable hands with Dr. Q and his team, who manage to remove the entire tumor and repair the hole that’s left behind.
Dr. Leonard Girardi is struggling with a patient’s ruptured aorta and the new school training methods in the medical profession today. Eighty hour work weeks? Not nearly enough. And Diane Ramos is definitely not one to question him after Dr. Girardi successfully performs a complicated surgery that allows her to enjoy her time with her newborn son.
Just another busy night at the hospital!
