Felix Fang was the latest home cook cast off from the MasterChef kitchen and the elimination crushed her. What did this cool culinarian have to say about Chef Gordon Ramsay and the MasterChef experience? Find out in her exclusive interview with Reality TV Magazine.
Felix Fang grew up in a restaurant, her parents owned one in her native Hawaii and she spent a childhood eating tons of free ice cream and helping out where she could. She ventured over to the mainland, Los Angeles to be exact, to pursue an acting career. Felix saw the perfect opportunity to combine her two passions, cooking and performance when the auditions for MasterChef rolled around.
“The top 100 was like a zoo, it was ridiculous,” Felix said about the first gathering of elite home cooks. “It was kind of like the first day of high school…people got grouped.”
“Gordon Ramsay seemed bummed that Joe and Graham let me get past. He didn’t get my sense of humor…but he’s not as nasty as he seems. He’s an angel.”
But when it came to her eventual elimination, Felix Fang said it felt like breaking up with a boyfriend. “It killed me,” she said. “I was so depressed. It was like a relationship had ended.” But, apparently, it was a relationship that she saw coming to an end.
“I had a feeling I was going home. I thought I was going to be ok, but I was trying to do something avant garde,” she said of the dessert that sent her home. “Ultimately, it just didn’t work.”
Felix is is back at work and doing some gigs on the side. She just finished her first 40-person engagement dinner and wants to start her own business. She’s struggling as she doesn’t have a car in L.A., but she has some great friends helping her out. Good luck Felix!
