DWTS’ Karina Smirnoff Doubts Bristol Palin’s Dancing Ability

August 04, 2012 04:00 PM by Stephanie Gustafson

Bristol Palin may possess a few talents (such as landing poorly-rated reality gigs) but dancing is certainly not one of them. Dancing with the Stars pro Karina Smirnoff said as much when chatting about the upcoming all-star season with People. Who does Smirnoff think possesses the talent necessary to land that mirror ball trophy? Read on to find out!

It’s hard to predict the winner of the upcoming all-star season on Dancing with the Stars. With past winners such as Shawn Johnson and Apolo Ohno, there’s just too much talent for one stage!

But according to DWTS pro Karina Smirnoff, there’s one contestant who almost certainly will not be holding the mirror ball trophy above her head at the end of the season: Bristol Palin.

Smirnoff told People, “I’d be very, very surprised if [Bristol Palin] won. Bristol was not known as the best dancer of her season.”

Based on the above statement, Karina Smirnoff definitely wins the award for understatement of the year. She continued, “there was so much controversy when she was on.”

Smirnoff may have a point, but in reality, all that controversy actually worked in Palin’s favor. Thanks to her ardent supporters, the aspiring reality TV star managed to snag a spot in the finale.  Let’s hope that such an atrocity does not occur again this year.

How did you react when you learned of Bristol Palin’s presence on the cast list for the all-star season of Dancing with the Stars? Are you willing to withstand her clumsy moves in order to see the likes of Melissa Rycroft, Gilles Marini, Apolo Ohno and Shawn Johnson? Take a moment to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Another classless “celebrity”. Would’ve it hurt Karina Smirnoff to show Bristol Palin some kindness? Bristol became a beautiful dancer through Mark’s tutelage. The comepetition is a lot tougher this season due to all the former champions and runner-ups. But Bristol has been underestimated before. Whatever happens, Bristol Palin was chosen to compete on DWTS: All-Stars. It’s a huge honor. By the way, this “controversy” that surrounded Bristol had nothing to do with her. She couldn’t have been more gracious when she competed in Season 11. It’s the Palin haters who caused all the trouble. I’m sure they will be out in force again this season. But so will Bristol’s fans.

I don’t even plan on tuning in to this season’s DWTS until Bristol Palin is voted off. If some sort of machinations keep her on even half-way through, I will probably not watch ANY of the show this fall.

The fall 2010 DWTS season was ruined by her clumsy “dancing”, the continual speculation about whether she was pregnant or just being a cow about overeating and undertraining, and — of course — the cheating done by her mother’s fans taking advantage of a loose voting procedure by ABC/DWTS.

Oh, one other thing: I don’t plan on watching “Stars Earn Stripes”, either, the hokey mock SEAL type adventure series in which her father Todd Palin participates, as the oldest and weakest of the “stars”.

Why is he even ON the show? He’s a 25 year dial-reader for BP and a (nasty smelly polluting) snowmachine racer, the Iron Dog race not even a 10th as rigorous as the Alaska Iditarod race which uses real dogs…

I love watching DWTS, but I’ll wait until Bristol gets voted off before tuning in for All Stars. While I know why she was “chosen” by the producers, I think they were mistaken, the Palin “allure” took a huge hit with the reality show.
I believe there were many many others more deserving, who showed more improvement from show to show and put in more effort than Bristol ever did.

Bristol Palin and DWTS are both using each other, she to keep herself in the limelight and they to gin up a second round of controversey to boost ratings. I’ll tune in to watch just as the ones who swear by the almighty that they won’t, but they will. Everyone likes to be present watching when the train runs off the tracks.

Hey to all you haters, who don’t like the Palin’s or even the republican party. We don’t care what you think . The fact is that Bristol Palin can dance , and you have to hate on her . Just show’s how low you can go and how weak you really are.

As for Korina your not even an American so go back to where you came from , you idiot. This is America and we don’t even like people from Russia.

Hey to all you haters that like to down the Palins and don’t even like the Republicans. And to Karina you are one useless Dancer that DWYS’S does not need, so go back to Russia because this is America and no one wants you here.
