The Phillip Phillips that fans know and love may be a number-one star on iTunes, but he’s not about to change his down-to-Earth style just for the sake of fame. Following a very successful week in which hit song Home was featured in the Olympics and then on the top of the iTunes download list, the American Idol champ has finally released his long-awaited music video. Read on to learn just why this video makes us love Phillips even more!
Were you expecting to see flashy camera work and scantily-clad girls in Phillip Phillips’ first music video? Well, you’re bound to be disappointing, because the American Idol victor’s debut video is as low-key as…well, as Phillip Phillips himself. In a refreshing break from the usual hyped-up videos released these days, Phillips’ video features the singer chilling with his beloved guitar and driving through the country. And performing in front of legions of fans of course, but in a way that comes still comes across as surprisingly modest. Throughout the course of the video, Phillips wears a simple grey shirt that would have the fashion police rolling their eyes. But fashion isn’t Phillips’ forte — nor do we expect or want it to be.
Following the upswing in sales of Home last week (but before the release of the music video), Phillips spoke of how “overwhelming” it was to experience such success in his music career. The star was shocked when the song “went from like 83 to number 7 in a day and a half or something like that. It kind of wowed me.”
