His name’s been mentioned as a possible contender to replace Steven Tyler; often getting lost in the shuffle among those like Brad Paisley and Nick Jonas. But has Pharrell Williams already signed on to join American Idol for Season 12? A source close to the famous rapper/producer/designer extraordinaire tells the NY Daily News that Williams is letting folks at his record label, Star Trak Entertainment (love the name!), know that he’s he’s about to boldly go where few have gone before; the judges’ panel of the FOX reality show.
Weeks ago it was reported that Pharrell Williams might be nearing a deal with FOX to appear on American Idol during the show’s 12th season, and now, it seems that the deal could be done.
According to an insider, the N.E.R.D. front man is currently making plans to split his time between the show and his many other business ventures as he gets ready to hit the road for Idol auditions.
If the rumors are true, Williams will be joining Mariah Carey on the judges’ panel.
Apparently, Pharrell is “super tight” with MC and Idol veteran Randy Jackson, who were both big factors in his decision.
Reps for the show had “no comment” about the report, so for now, Mariah Carey is still the only person who’s actually confirmed to be sitting on the judges’ panel. But with auditions looming, it’s likely that decisions have already been made, and the people at FOX are just enjoying watching everyone play this sick guessing game while they prepare to make the much-anticipated announcement.
Only time will tell!
