Looks like a little bit of celebrity can still go a long way, especially where legal matters are concerned. “Around the World in 80 Plates” star, Cat Cora, will get off relatively light for her recent DUI. What kind of deal did she get?
According to TMZ, Santa Barbara County District Attorney reported that Cat Cora pled “no contest” to driving with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher. The remaining DUI count from the June arrest was dropped.
Cat Cora received 3 years probation and 9 months of DUI school. That’s like traffic school, except more boring and more depressing. So really, she didn’t get off that light. 9 months of MADD propaganda and videos is enough to punish just about any crime.. She also paid $2,386 in fines.
Cat received a 120-day suspended jail sentence, but she doesn’t have to serve as long as she adheres to her probation and DUI school obligations. So you probably can’t expect to see her in an orange jumpsuit unless she’s a really bad traffic school student.
Cat was arrested for having a blood alcohol content of .19, which is twice the legal limit in California. She claims that she only had three beers, which means she’s a real lightweight unless those things were malt liquor.
Cat apologized for the arrest, saying, “I deeply regret my decision to drive that evening after my designated driver became unavailable.”
Regardless, she crashed into another car and legal troubles ensued. So if you’re in Santa Barbara and you’re looking for Cat, meander over to the local traffic school. Looks like she’s going to be there for a while.
