Hope Solo’s new book Solo: A Memoir Of Hope includes its fair share of gossip bombshells. Perhaps the most shocking is the allegation that pro dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy slapped Hope while they were partners on Dancing with the Stars. Angered at what he views as an outright lie, Maks responded to the hype via Twitter. What did he have to say?
Maksim Chmerkovskiy is a frequent Twitter user, sending his followers little tidbits about his daily life as a dancer. One of his more recent tweets, however, was far less lighthearted than usual. Following a less-than-flattering mention in Hope Solo’s memoir, Maks took to Twitter to clear things up for his fans: “Always hated hypocrites and liars…but when someone is both AND an opportunist, I just feel bad for them. Can’t win at someone’s expense…” Maks didn’t mention Hope by name, but in light of the current controversy, it’s pretty clear who he is talking about.
This angry message comes just days after Maks was cheering for Hope via Twitter. “Always knew @HopeSolo was a beast in the goal, but she is killing it right now! #GetThatGold.” The next day, he tweeted, “Congrats @HopeSolo and the entire #USWNT for three-peating the Olympic gold!!! Smiling as if I had something to do with it ) #Proud.”
It’s pretty obvious that Maks wasn’t expecting to be portrayed so negatively in Hope’s memoir. Hope has not responded to his accusations of lying and hypocrisy, but we expect that if she does, she’ll firmly stand her ground. As for Maks, well, he’s standing his ground too. He mentioned his resolve in yet another tweet: “Life’s best lessons are the ones that you smile through…..while they hurt you the most! I’m bullet proof….FIRE AWAY!”
Who do you side with in this DWTS feud? Maks or Hope? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments section below.
