Katie Holmes Receives $400k Annually For Child Support

August 24, 2012 05:00 PM by Gina Hall

Anyone who has kids knows that they can be a little pricey. Back-to-school clothes, food, shots. They all cost quite a bit here and there. So when a couple splits, each has to pay their fair share. Apparently Tom Cruise’s fair share amounts to more than most of us see in a decade. And will Katie Holmes, recent judge on “Project Runway,” see a dime for having to put up with Tom Cruise for five years?

According to TMZ, sources close to the couple are reporting that Tom Cruise will pay $400,000 a year for child support. That amounts to a little over $33,000 a month, which is a lot of people’s annual salaries. How can a small child such as Suri spend that much a month? Well, she probably has her own zoo of magical animals to upkeep.

Tom Cruise will pay the support until Suri is 18 years old, the total amounts to $4.8 million. Quite the college fund.

But wait, that doesn’t even include the college fund, because in addition to the $4.8mil, Tom’s also in for all of Suri’s expenses including: medical, dental, insurance, education, college and “extracurricular costs” (read: rehab).

Meanwhile, Katie Holmes received nothing in terms of spousal support. So for all her pain and suffering, nada. But each wanted a speedy resolution to the divorce and it seems like that’s what went down. Katie Holmes could have sued in New York court for more money but decided not to pursue the option.

But don’t weep for Katie’s monthly bills. She just launched a new fashion line and is back on Broadway, so we doubt you’ll see her on a New York street corner begging for change.
