Yep, add another name to the ever increasing list of possible judges for the new season of American Idol. Keith Urban is the newest name to the list, but what country fans may be left wondering is: Why is he not worth the same amount of money that the other judges are?
American Idol is reportedly trying to get Keith Urban as one of the newest judges for the new season. While this news may excite country fans, we were also left wondering what happened to Brad Paisley, who was also in talks with the show? Well, rumor has it that the show was not willing to pay Paisley enough. But get this – he wasn’t asking for Mariah’s big diva salary, in fact, he asked for $10 million less than Mariah Carey is reportedly making, but that was too much for the show to give him. Are you annoyed yet?
Oh, it gets better! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keith Urban is close to signing a contract for a mere $3-$4 million bucks, which is what they wanted to pay Paisley. The kicker? Not only that Mariah Carey is making $18 million off the show, but that Nicki Minaj (if she signs on) will be making $8 million (the same amount that Brad Paisley asked for).
Um, excuse us Idol, but why aren’t these huge country stars that have been around for decades worth more than Minaj, who has been singing for all of what – two years now? How many albums does Minaj have? Clearly, something is very wrong here, and the executives at American Idol need a slap with reality.
In any event, we’ll be thrilled to see a country star on the show for a change. Who would you like to see on the American Idol judging panel? Comment and share your thoughts below!
