On tonight’s episode of Top Chefs Masters, the chefs create dishes using aphrodisiac ingredients for special guest Dita Von Teese, The Queen of Burlesque. Later, on the Bravo reality TV competition, the chefs must launch their own Thai restaurant with another special guestSaipin Chutima. Keep reading to find out which chefs make up the final five!
Along with bragging rights, the chefs are competing for prizes and money that will be donated to their charities. The show is based in Las Vegas and all of the chefs put their luck to the test. The six competing chefs are Patricia Yeo, Takashi Yagihashi, Art Smith, Kerry Heffernan, Lorena Garcia, and Chris Cosentino.
The rotating judges include Krista Simmons, Francis Lam, Ruth Reichl and James Oseland.
For this week’s Quick Fire Challenge the remaining chefs must make sexy dishes using aphrodisiac ingredients. With 30 minutes on the clock the chefs cook as fast as they can! Dita Von Teese joins Curtis Stone and explains that the tease is important but there must be a payoff in the end. After tasting the dishes, there is one dish that embodies the best sex appeal. For the second week in a row, Takashi Yagihashi wins the Quick Fire Challenge; securing $5,000 for his charity.
Next, the chefs find out they will be dining at Saipin Chutima’s famous Thai restaurant in preparation for this week’s challenge. The remaining chefs must put their master spin on Thai food for the critics and diners.
In the kitchen while racing against the clock, Patricia tells Lorena to move her prep dishes so that the others can use the burners–Lorena yells at Patricia saying she isn’t her boss. The tension in the kitchen is so think it could be cut with a knife! At this point the chefs just want to serve their food so the night can be over.
Saipin Chutima joins the judges at the critics table to taste the chef’s twist on Thai food. While she’s complimentary about the Thai dishes, when asked if she would want to dine at the restaurant, Chutima just laughs.
Emotions are intense this week and everyone is a little on edge heading into the critics table. The critics aren’t happy with Lorena’s garnish on her soup, Patricia’s duck didn’t have the spices they were looking for and Art’s dish was bland and not as “Thai” as they thought it would be. After tasting the dishes and hearing feedback from diners, the judges reveal that Chris had the best dish and wins $10,000 for his charity.
After deliberating the judges decide to eliminate Art Smith. Curtis tells Art they will be making a donation to his charity.
