Honey Boo Boo’s mama, surprisingly, was investigated by Child Protective Services after being arrested.
June, the 33-year-old mother of the star of TV’s latest attempt to capture reality, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” was arrested in 2008 for contempt of court. She said the charge originated from a child support issue with her own mother. In an unrelated note, June’s 18-year-old daughter, Anna, was largely raised by June’s mother.
“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” is on The Learning Channel.
June also faced a theft charge that she said had “nothing to do with family.” Both charges were later dismissed.
In March, June’s then 6-year-old daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson (now age 7) was shown in an episode of “Toddlers and Tiaras” draining a concoction of Mountain Dew and Red Bull that the family aptly named “go-go juice.”
Alana has also been spotted dancing on a bar, possibly because it was shot on video and later posted on the Internet. Child protection authorities in Georgia, who investigate the family, probably didn’t approve of such behavior, but did not file charges. They might have called June a bad parent, but that has not been confirmed; it is currently only a matter of speculation.
“It was the worst four days of my whole entire life,” June said of the investigation.
That presumably includes the time that thousands of Americans were killed by terrorists who hijacked airplanes with box cutters.
Oh, and that whole bar dancing incident was really more of “a meet-and-greet at a concert,” in June’s words.
June expanded on whatever that meant by adding, “After I left, I realized, ‘I’m not gonna put Alana in that situation again because it was crazy.’”
Yes, June, “It” is what’s crazy.
June also defended for the “go-go juice,” (not to be confused with Michael Jackson’s “Jesus juice,” which you’ll recall was wine), by providing the unassailable logic that “It was a one-time only thing. We don’t do it.”
Well, yes, except that you did.
Asked if she felt regret going on TV and opening up her life to close inspection?
June responded in a way that reassures America that she’s perfect for reality TV: “No.” She went on to say that she has nothing to hide. Of course, if she did, would she know it?
