Aviva Drescher of Bravo’s hit show, “The Real Housewives of New York City,” has expressed anger over statements by the Wisconsin senator regarding his pro-life stance and rape, according to a “Hollywood Life” report released on Aug. 29.
Paul Ryan said he believes that when a woman is raped, she should keep the baby. Aviva says she is disgusted with the comment, and if she is emblematic of housewives across the country (isn’t she?), GOP candidate Mitt Romney might be in serious trouble.
Republicans have made rape an issue this election cycle, and Ryan has been outspoken on the matter, in addition to having a track record of voting anti-choice across the board. He says he believes that rape isn’t a good enough reason for women to get an abortion.
His latest position is that a woman would have to be facing her own death before she could be allowed to have an abortion.
“I’m very proud of my pro-life record, and I’ve always adopted the idea that, the position that the method of conception doesn’t change the definition of life,” Ryan is on record as saying. “I think that it’s a repulsive statement,” Aviva Drescher is quoted as saying.
“The woman’s right to her own body is theirs and I’m completely, completely pro-choice.”
The Romney/Ryan ticket is not scoring well with women voters, particularly with educated women. Although Romney has flip-flopped on the issue a number of times, Ryan has been crystal clear that he is completely, completely anti-choice.
