The American Idol saga continues, as we are still waiting to find out who will be joining the panel for the new season. We do know that Nigel Lythgoe is returning and he will be working on securing the new panel. However, a new report claims that the new judging panel will not include Randy Jackson! Uh oh, what will we do without the Dawg?
As Nigel Lythgoe scrambles to fill the American Idol panel left vacant by Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, a new report claims that the good ole Dawg, aka Randy Jackson will not be returning the panel. It was rumored for a while that he would be moving into a mentoring role, and if the sources at TMZ are correct, that is exactly what is happening for the new season.
The website claims that an Idol insider told them that Randy Jackson is officially out of the judging panel, but will remain on the show as a mentor. However, there was concern over whether or not Randy would fit into a mentoring role, but the big wigs at Idol feel that Randy, who is the only original judge left standing, needs to remain on the show somehow because he is the “glue that holds the show together.”
Oh it gets better – according to the source, American Idol, who thus far has only Mariah Carey signed, will be doing the 4 judge routine this season. Nicki Minaj is supposedly almost signed, while the 3rd seat is going to a country star (recent rumors claim it is Keith Urban). So, who will take the 4th spot? If you were hoping for either Sean Combs or Kanye West, you’re out of luck, as the rumor is that neither of them will be getting a spot on the panel.
And the mystery continues…Who would you like to see on the American Idol judging panel? Comment and share your thoughts below!
