Stars Earn Stripes Recap: The Season One Winner Is…

September 03, 2012 07:39 PM by Lisa Princ

After narrowly escaping elimination last week on NBC’s Stars Earn Stripes, Nick Lachey along with Eve Torres, Picabo Street, Todd Palin, and Dean Cain returned tonight for the season finale. But only one of them walked away the winner with an additional $100K for their charity!

Stars Earn Stripes ended the season with a bang tonight in what was two hours of eliminations excitement. Before anyone could compete in the final challenge, they had to do some eliminations, big shock considering the show was condensed into all of what – three or four episodes? The first order of business? Eliminate the worst shooter – and I can’t say I didn’t see this one coming. Even if I didn’t tell you, you’d probably know who was eliminated.

All five celebs performed in a shootout, with the winner getting to choose their team for the next mission, and the loser a trip home. The shocker in the shootout? Dean Cain won! How did he beat Eve Torres? She had some issues with her gun that landed her in the bottom two with Nick Lachey. What’s the not-so-shocking end? Nick Lachey got beat by a girl and was sent packing. Nick’s excuse? He couldn’t see because his eyes were tired and hurting from the last shootout – yeah, maybe you should stick with diaper duty Nick, but kudos for giving it your all.

And Dean Cain did not shock us either, as he chose to pair up with Eve. Is anyone else surprised at what a good shooter she is? I wonder if she has had training prior to the show? Anyway, Picabo was pissed that she was not chosen by Dean, which fueled her motivation for the next mission. Sadly, that motivation was not enough to make up for Todd’s poor shooting tonight – nerves, perhaps? Todd has remained cool and a good shot in the past, so this one was baffling.

In the end of this elimination mission, it was Todd who could not beat Picabo in the elimination shootout (guess her motivation was still going), so he was sent packing. At this point, all the Palin haters were probably celebrating – say what you will about him, but I have to give him props for being on the show and making it this far. Todd was emotional at the end of his journey, having a new found appreciation for what his son, who is serving overseas, does on a daily basis.

So, we were left with two women and one man in the final showdown. If there is one thing this show has proven, it is that women can do very well in the military. For the final mission, the three would playing without teams, just the celebrity with their special operative. In the final mission, the pairs had to jump from a helicopter into a boat, then climb a rope up a ship and destroy all the targets in the ship. If you think you know how this one ended, you are probably right.

Dean was up first and while he did a good job, he was not quite fast enough, and ended up in third place. Eve’s biggest struggle was getting up the rope, while Picabo struggled to get some shots in. At the end of the mission, it was revealed that only 27 seconds separated the two teams. So who walked away with the win and the extra $100K for their charity?

Eve Torres! I can’t say that I was surprised, and I am sure you aren’t either. Kudos to Eve for kicking some serious butt on Stars Earn Stripes!

Great show. Reality w/o voting! That’s how it should be. Just step up and beat the competition fair and square. this show was the “Top Gun” of reality TV and honored the men and women of the US Armed Forces. Classy and exciting. I know some doves think it is a bit hawkish and thanks to the work our military does dailey, the doves have the freedom to whine. Looked like serious fun to me.

Well this was a given from the first mission. I am happy that they made a show where celebrities actually helped charities that helped the first responders, and the military men and women of our country, however the way they focused on that Eve Torres was sickening. So I was not surprised by the outcome when she won. I mean I would of preferred Laila Ali, Dean Cain, or Picabo because Eve seemed to just want to be a diva the whole time and her partner in the show Grady looked like all he wanted to do is be with her. I mean the whole purpose of the show was to do for charity but in almost every show they just seemed to highlight how great she was – I think all of them were great. My husband and I liked the concept of the show- however the empahsis should of been on the whole team always, and it seemed to shift to be about how great Eve was!

The best thing I liked about this show (Other than Eve Torres, Picabo Street, and Laila Ali) is that the Starts didn’t get a red cent. The Ops guy did and thier charities did. I’m a little surprised at the outcome, but hey, The best contestant won. The brotherhood of the Armed Services, Police and the Stars really came out on top after all of this and it was enlightening. Especially sinced I served for 21 years and seeing the Ops guys really perform like they’ve been trained.
