Kim Kardashian’s net worth might be rising, but her self-esteem has to be plummeting – her marriage was a dismal failure, her boyfriend buys her clothes that are way too small, and now the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has rejected her desire for a star on the Walk of Fame.
Here’s what the 31-year-old star of the E! hit TV show “Keeping up with the Kardashians” had to say to “V” magazine: “I think there was a quote where somebody said that reality stars will never get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. So, of course I’m so competitive that I think that it would be a huge achievement and a goal that anyone would want. I would love to break that mold.”
There might be an empty spot somewhere between Marlon Brando and Katherine Hepburn that would be perfect for the TV personality.
The chamber of commerce is responsible for handing out stars to celebrities, but a spokesman for the agency said that they don’t give out stars to people just for being on a reality show.
“She has not been nominated. She is a reality star. We don’t do reality stars. She needs to get a real acting job then come to us,” said the snarky rep for the chamber.
Kim Kardashian, to her credit, does have other credits on her resume. She has guest-starred on three episodes of the TV show “Drop Dead Diva,” and she has an acting role in a new Tyler Perry movie, called “The Marriage Counselor.”
Adding to Kim Kardashian’s dejection could be the fact that this year’s recipients include, among others, Rick Baker, Simon Baker, Ellen DeGeneres, Jane Lynch, Katey Sagal and Matthew Perry will receive stars for their contribution to the field of entertainment.
That’s got to sting a little bit.
According to their own website, “Anyone, including a fan, can nominate a celebrity as long as the celebrity or his/her management is in agreement with the nomination.” The price of the star, assuming that a celebrity is chosen, is a hefty $30,000 for the roughly square-foot piece of real state. That money goes straight to the coffers of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
“I think [reality] is still a new form of entertainment…” Kim told the magazine.
Well, “new” is a relative term.
