If you’ve been paying attention to the political scene this last week, you might have seen Clint Eastwood much-discussed speech at the Republican National Convention. Dancing with the Stars’ Tom Bergeron and Kirstie Alley also witnessed the speech, although they came away with rather different opinions. What did they have to say about fellow celeb Clint Eastwood?
Clint Eastwood made headlines for his recent speech at the Republican National Convention. The highlight of the speech was his little chat with an invisible President Obama. This idea seems to have garnered varying levels of appreciation from viewers, some of whom found it hilarious, while others were less impressed.
Kirstie Alley counts herself among a small group of Democrats greatly enjoying Clint Eastwood’s performance on stage. She later tweeted her reaction to the speech: “I just saw Clint Eastwood’s speech and I LOVED it!! Funny as hell & on point!!..& I’m a Democrat..US media is SO biased in favor of Dems.”
Another familiar face from Dancing with the Stars also tweeted a reaction to the speech, although this time, it wasn’t quite as complimentary. Tom Bergeron occasionally leaves political comments on his Twitter page, usually incorporating his much-loved sense of humor. This time, he informed his Twitter followers that, “Clint Eastwood’s headline-grabbing, scene-stealing, empty chair address was the biggest bait and switch since the Trojans got a horse.”
Do you agree with Kirstie Alley’s assertion that Clint Eastwood has just voiced an important and rarely-covered viewpoint? Or is Tom Bergeron more accurate in his assessment of the speech? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
