The homecooks take on a Mystery Box Challenge, which features a cookbook with their image on the cover. They must create a dish that shows a passion for food but one person’s passion won’t be enough, one home cook will go home tonight.
The last Mystery Box Challenge is tonight! They will each create an entrée worthy of being in their cookbook, should they win. They have an hour. In the midst of making their dishes, Becky Reams cuts her fish and made too small of pieces for an entrée so she changes her dish to a fish soup. Time runs is up and the judges taste the dishes.
Josh Marks is up with Curried Cornish Hen with Basmati Rice. Gordon Ramsay calls it beyond delicious and not too spicy. Graham Elliot says it’s killer and Joe Bastianich says it’s remarkable. Christine Ha made Vermicelli Stir Fry with Seared Scallops. Joe says the noodles have a great texture to them and it is really intense. Graham calls it incredible and Gordon Ramsay wishes she could see the dish. Last up is Becky Reams with Loup de Mer Soup with Sunchoke Puree. Joe says the fish is dry and Graham says it’s not a cohesive dish. Gordon Ramsay doesn’t like it.
The judges discuss and the best dish goes to Christine. They all head over to the MasterChef Pantry for the Elimination Test. Christine picks the ingredient she will cook with. The theme is legs and she can choose from leg of lamb, chicken legs and frog legs. Christine picks chicken legs. Josh picks the leg of lamb and Becky gets the frog legs.
All of the other home cooks return and root them on from the balcony. Time runs out and it’s time for the judges to taste the food.
Christine Ha is up with Southern Fried Chicken with Creamed Kale. Chef Ramsay calls it delicious and Graham says it’s cooked perfectly, Joe calls it crunchy and moist on the inside, he decides that the kale is too creamy.
Josh made Lamb Carimanolas with Mango Salsa, Tomato Salsa and Tomatillo Salsa. Joe is surprised that the dish is delicious. Graham observes that the dish is beautiful and the sauces are excellent. Gordon likes the sauces.
Becky made Garlic Frog Legs with Potatoes, Mushrooms and Bitter Greens Salad. Joe likes the frog legs but calls the potatoes soggy. Chef Ramsay agrees on the potatoes. Graham also likes the legs but not the potatoes.
The judges discuss the three dishes. The first person saved is Josh, so it’s down to the two ladies. Who will have one final shot at the “MasterChef” apron. And it’s Becky who is going home, so it will be Josh and Christine in the final round! Becky will head home, so close! But Gordon Ramsay tells her that the doors to his restaurants are always open for her. Congrats, Becky. Stay tuned for the final episode of this year’s “MasterChef.”
