The Voice Recap: Harry Potter Meets Justin Bieber, And Other Tragic Tales

September 11, 2012 07:34 PM by Shayla Perry

Last night on NBC, it was all about hugs. But on night 2 of the Blind Auditions, it’s about the heartache; heartache, Harry Potter, and...Justin Bieber?! With several spots still left to fill on each of their teams (16 this season? Seriously?!), Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera have a long way to go, and a whole lot of spinning to do before they find The Voice. Which means, yes…many, many more sob stories. And this time, they’re pourin’ it on thick! So how, exactly, do the boy who lived and the Biebs fit in? Find out after the jump.

Get your tissues ready, it’s time for another night of Blind Auditions on The Voice, and tonight, they’re givin’ us nothing but sob stories.

After suffering a pretty horrifying hostage situation at the age of 9, facing the judges is nothing for Brooklyn native Adriana Louise as she takes to the stage singing “Domino.”

All four of the coaches are BEGGING Adriana to choose them, but it’s Christina who wins her over.

Wrestler and country crooner Casey Muessigmann (appropriately pronounced “Music Man,” and oh, by the way, he lost out on a promising pro-wrestling career because of an injury) is hoping for the same kind of response from the superstars. He may not get all four of them to turn, but he does manage to end up with Blake Shelton, where it seems he belongs. Who else would appreciate his great “ass-spankin’” ability?

Aquile is from San Diego, California, and yes…he also went through a tough time in his life, having had his jaw wired shut, Kanye West-style after getting punched in the mouth.

Putting his own spin on the classic, “Your Song,” Aquile immediately makes Christina and Adam push their buttons for him, with Cee Lo turning at the very last minute. His choice? Another one for Team X-tina.

Ryan Fogarty is a roadie for LeAnn Rimes, so um…wait… Is that the part we’re supposed to feel bad about? In case you’re thinking that he’s going to be the Jermaine Paul of the season, think again. He performs a country song, but doesn’t land on anyone’s team this time around.

If the competition were about personal strife alone, 19-year-old MacKenzie Bourg probably would have won…even out of this group. Diagnosed with a virus that caused his heart to fail, Bourg made almost a full recovery, then came to The Voice to charm Cee Lo, making it onto Team Red Zone, and making showing us all what it would look like if Justin Bieber and Harry Potter somehow procreated.

Speaking of things that haven’t been done before…

Julio Cesar Castillo  is doing a Voice first, auditioning completely in Spanish with “La Bamba.” It’s obvious he’s a star, and he’s also a member of Blake Shelton’s team.
