It’s been a crazy season on America’s Got Talent, what with Howard’s rambling, Howie’s weird taste in performers (remember Big Barry?) and Sharon’s feud with NBC. But it’s not over yet! With performances from Olate Dogs, David Garibaldi and his CMYKs, Tom Cotter, William Close, The Untouchables and Joe Castillo, this finale promises to be one of the best America’s Got Talent has ever put on!
After we get a glimpse of spiffy Nick Cannon in a tux, the finales start off with David Garibaldi and his CMYKs. David came close to not making the finales at all, but he was saved by a vote from Howard. This week, he switches it up with a portrait of Albert Einstein…with a twist: Einstein is upside down! All three judges are in love with the Einstein painting, with Howard comparing his own hair to that portrayed on the canvas.
It’s judges’ choice again for Tom Cotter’s routine! He ultimately winds up with “poor example,” a theme that is definitely promising. The bit focuses on nursery rhymes and children’s songs, most of which contain shockingly violent language (as Tom so hilariously points out). Fellow comedian Howie is impressed, telling Tom, “You just scratched and clawed your way to the top tonight.”
The Untouchables are up next, and once again, their dance is flawless. Tonight’s song is Rollin’ Down The River – always a great choice. The costume change impressed so much last week that The Untouchables had to try for another during the finale. Sharon and Howard are impressed, but Howie says he preferred last week’s routine.
When in doubt, suck up to the judges. That’s Joe Castillo’s plan for winning it all. He creates an America’s Got Talent themed sand painting, complete with Sharon, Howard, Howie and Nick. At the end of the act, the picture of Howard gets its very own sand beret! The judges love the paintings, but Howard quips that Joe transformed Sharon into an Asian.
Another great tactic for getting votes: go the patriotic route! We’re thinking it might work, because nobody can pull of patriotism better than harpist William Close. He plays a beautiful rendition of America The Beautiful, effortlessly bringing the audience to its feet. As usual, the judges rave over William’s performance, predicting great things for the musician.
And last but not least, Olate Dogs! Tonight, the dogs take the classy approach, with two of them wearing suits and ties! A lot of old tricks are rehashed during this performance, but the outfits and song give it a new feel. The act ends with two little doggies on the judges’ table. Sharon manages to snatch one for herself!
Talk about an amazing finale! This is definitely the night to vote, so America, pick up your phones!
