The Voice and The X Factor are currently in the midst of a well-publicized ratings war, with each show attempting to top American Idol as the king of the reality singing circuit. But the formerly gracious battle has just gotten personal, with The Voice judge and mentor Blake Shelton offering a few choice words for X Factor judge Simon Cowell.
Everyone loves a cat fight — especially when Simon Cowell is involved. Simon started things off by commenting on The Voice’s decision to air a third show during its premiere week…right when The X Factor’s season premiere was supposed to air.
Simon admitted, “I am pissed off about it, because I think there’s a kind of gentleman’s agreement. But we have to rely that the viewers will make the right selection.”
Okay, that’s not so bad, especially coming from the notoriously feisty Simon. But that’s exactly what makes Blake Shelton’s response so bizarre. He told Access Hollywood, ”Every time I turn around the guy [Simon] is mouthing off… Don’t y’all wish you had time to sit around and bitch and moan like that guy does? It’s like, ‘Do your own show! Come on! Put something together there and do your thing!”
Umm, Blake, Simon is doing his own show. It’s called The X Factor and its currently your main source of competition on network TV. That doesn’t matter though, because Simon Cowell is clearly sooo lazy. According to Blake, he’s just swimming in free time. “I wish I had that much time. The guy must just have more free time than he knows what to do with.” Yeah, that’s right, judging for The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent plus serving as the executive producer for America’s Got Talent (not to mention creating a long list of other shows) really is a walk in the park!
We’re guessing that, following Blake’s attack, Simon will be bringing out the claws. Because, honestly, do you think Blake could beat Simon in a war of the words? Stay tuned for more from the latest celebrity feud!
