The 2012 season of Top Chef Masters has been a long road for the master chefs! Two females and two males make up the final four chefs competing on the Bravo reality TV competition. On tonight’s episode, the chefs participate in one of the world’s greatest underground dining events: Diner en Blanc. Each chef creates a picnic style meal with abundant ingredients for a feast!
Along with bragging rights, the chefs are competing for prizes and money that will be donated to their charities. The show is based in Las Vegas and all of the chefs put their luck to the test. The four competing chefs are Patricia Yeo, Kerry Heffernan, Lorena Garcia and Chris Cosentino.
The rotating judges include Krista Simmons, Francis Lam, Ruth Reichl and James Oseland.
For the Quickfire challenge, the final four master chefs divide into two teams. Kerry and Lorena are paired together while Chris and Patricia are the other team. The teams cook for Johnny Avello, the Director of Race and Sports at Wynn Hotel. Kerry and Lorena win the Quickfire challenge after cooking two dishes and each receive $2,500 for their charities.
Host, Curtis Stone informs the remaining chefs that they will be preparing three dishes for the first ever Diner en Blanc picnic in Las Vegas. The chefs dash through Whole Foods picking out their food and ingredients for the big picnic. Back in the kitchen, the chefs are putting their best plates forward. Donned in white, guests and food critics show up to join the inaugural Diner en Blanc picnic. With a feast before them, attendees sample each dish crafted by the competing chefs.
Everyone is very nervous heading into the critics table since the finish line is so close. After tasting the dishes and hearing feedback from guests at the picnic, the judges reveal the two best dishes. Kerry and Chris’ dishes are the favorites but there can only be one winner. The judges select Chris’ dish as the best and he receives $10,000 for his charity. After deliberating, the judges decide to eliminate Patricia Yeo.
