In case you missed it, last night marked the final six performances from some of the best acts America’s Got Talent has ever seen. Constantly touted as the front runner of the competition is William Close, an Earth harpist who builds some crazy instruments. Despite his position as judges’ favorite, William proved to be a humble and likeable guy during a recent interview.
Performing on stage in front of millions (and in front of Howard Stern!) has got to be terrifying, but harpist William Close never looks fazed. He must be good at hiding his nerves, because in an interview with Digital Spy, he revealed that he wasn’t expecting much of a reaction from the audience. “ I had so much going on at that first audition. When I walked out there, Howard was a little sceptical and they weren’t really sure what I was up to, but when I started to perform and play, everyone was blown away. Inside, that feels pretty cool.”
William added that one requirement of competing on America’s Got Talent is keeping an open mind. And open-mindedness is William’s forte. “I’m really capable of that and it’s what I’d love to do – I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve and it’s been a lot of fun.”
As amazed as we are by William’s talent, he is even more in awe of the others with whom he shares the stage, not to mention all the other great performers who have called America home. “This is such a cool, awesome country and that’s what we’re celebrating here. The idea that I even… I’m proud to be part of a long line of American creators and inventors and I love that the show lets you show that.”
Tonight, we learn if the judges’ predictions were correct! Stay tuned for an amazing finale!
