Katie Holmes appears to be doing very well for herself these days, since her split from Tom Cruise. The actress, who has frequented FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance, and guest judged on Project Runway, rocked her brand new design collection at Fashion Week!
That’s right, Katie Holmes made her big Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week debut this week, and according to sources, it was rocking! Holmes and her design partner Jeanne Yang presented 14 looks from their new spring 2013 collection. According to those in attendance, Katie was “hands on” helping get her models ready to walk the runway.
“I love the off-the-shoulder spider mum dress because it’s very feminine. Some of the leather pieces are pretty great, too,” Katie Holmes said of some of her pieces.
But the real question is – what did the fashion gurus think? One buyer told the press: “I feel like it’s still starting to grow. It’s a very new collection. It’s a good start, though, and this was their first presentation,” while a Glamour fashion executive gushed: “Great separates at Holmes & Yang! Especially loved the navy motorcycle jacket.”
“The key is the celebrity being involved, being involved in the look and the concept, and to be proud to wear the clothes,” said the editor of People Watch Style, adding that the lines was: “very clean but with a cool factor.”
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Holmes plans to take a major role in promoting the line, which happens to fall under the Bobbi Brown brand. Katie is set to star in a new ad campaign next spring to promote it.
