Just as Chris Brown is sporting a new tattoo, so is his ex-girlfriend Rihanna. But whereas his looks like her and is on his neck, hers is of an Egyptian goddess underneath her breasts. So what did the “American Idol” guest star decide to emblazon under her chest?
The under-the-breast tattoo has become rather ubiquitous, according to a tattoo parlor owner.
“Oh, my God, we do that one every day,” said Claudia Amparo, the owner of Ink Point and Body Piercing in Washington Heights. “They come in and put quotes under their breasts, like ‘Love is painful,’ or ‘Trust no one,’ stuff like that.”
“It’s a sexy spot on a woman,” agreed Jen Terban, co-owner of East Side Ink, where Rihanna goes to for her tattoos when she is in town.
“It’s a personal spot perfect for something personal,” Terban said.
And he is right. It is a personal spot. So is the crotch, it does not mean that a tattoo needs to go there.
Rihanna says that her tattoo is a tribute to her late grandmother, Clara (Dolly) Braithwaite.
Dolly, we can surmise, was an Egyptian goddess, or at least pharaoh. Dolly died of cancer on July 1. So that probably rules out goddess.
Rihanna revealed her new tattoo is a photo from her Instagram account Sunday night. She covered up her breasts with her hands and showed the tattoo of Isis, the Egyptian goddess of motherhood and fertility.
This is what she wrote:
“Goddess Isis — Complete Woman — Model for future generations — #GRANGRANDOLLY,” she wrote in the caption. “Always in and on my heart.”
And now under her bosoms.
