If there’s one thing more entertaining than Honey Boo Boo’s antics, it’s a parody of Honey Boo Boo’s antics! In one of the funniest bits of the recent Saturday Night Live premiere, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo stars June Shannon and Alana Thompson (or, at least, their parody versions) discussed the 2012 elections and why their show is way better than any ol’ political convention.
It was only a matter of time before Here Comes Honey Boo Boo made it onto the SNL weekend update. After all, the reality show is comedy gold! Bobby Moynihan played Mama and Vanessa Bayer played a surprisingly subdued Honey Boo Boo. The two were hilarious, although, having seen actual interviews of June and Alana, it’s hard to tell which one is the real parody.
The big question of the night: does Honey Boo Boo prefer Obama or Romney? Based on the little celeb’s answer, neither candidate makes the cut. “Like most Americans, I support whoever is the most glitzy, whoever’s got the prettiest hair, and whoever’s gonna to help me get some monneeyy!” She added that it would be an extra plus if the candidates drank their go-go juice. Hmm, a go-go juice presidential debate might actually be interesting!
During the sketch, Seth Meyers helpfully pointed out that, although both June and Alana speak English (or their version of it) TLC still makes a point of offering subtitles for almost the entirety of each episode. Following that observation, the SNL June and Alana proceeded to talk in the very mumbley jibberish that would have us all scratching our heads if TLC wasn’t so thoughtful.
