This week on NBC‘s The Voice, the teams are starting to shape up, but there’s still a long way to go and the competition is really starting to get fierce. A girl who can play the tambourine with her feet?! What did you miss? All the highlights after the jump.
New York’s Melanie Martinez is the first artist to hit the stage tonight, singing “Toxic” by Britney Spears. Her unique spin on the hit gets Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Cee Lo Green all turning in their chairs, fighting for her to join their teams. Her choice? Mr. Adam Levine.
Up next, someone who you’d think wouldn’t need to be on the show at all…. Cupid. Yes, of the “Cupid Shuffle.” Will he get the chance to be more than a one-hit wonder?
Oddly enough, he’s singing his own song for his audition, hoping that the coaches recognize his true talent.
If only he sang something else!
No one turns their chair for him, but Cee Lo instantly recognizes Cupid.
Texas native and single dad, Brian Scartocci is singing Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely,” and manages to turn all of the male coaches’ chairs (what’s up with X-tina tonight?). It’s a tough decision, with Blake and Adam pullin’ out all the stops, but in the end, Brian goes with Levine.
After some failed duos, married couple, Beat Frequency goes before the coaches, singing, “E.T.” Finally, Christina Aguilera’s chair turns (we thought it was broken for a second there). Will this duo finally be one to go the distance?
Liz Davis‘ “Here for the Party” wins over Christina, Adam, and at the VERY last second — Blake. And what’s that poking him in his back?
JR Aquino is from Alaska and singing “Just the Way You Are” for his audition. The YouTube sensation has Christina and Adam spinning almost instantly, with Cee Lo following suit. His choice for a coach? Cee Lo!
After Alessandra Guercio wins over Adam and Cee Lo, making it onto Team Adam, 15-year-old Adanna Duru, Paulina, and Kelly Crapa also make it onto teams as well.
But it’s Avery Wilson who wows the crowd — and all 4 coaches — with Usher’s “Without You.”
What was your favorite performance of the night?
