Say it isn’t so! Just as we were starting to love her again, Christina Aguilera has announced that she won’t be spinning in that futuristic red chair when The Voice returns for its 4th season on NBC. Even worse, Cee Lo Green won’t be there either! The two celebrity coaches will be taking a season-long (and we hope that’s all!) hiatus from the show to work on personal projects, and will be replaced with two other superstars. Who are they?
Yes, it’s true. We’re hardly into the 3rd season of The Voice, and already, both Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green have made plans to leave the hit NBC reality show…but only temporarily.
Both of the celebrity coaches will be taking the 4th season off to work on personal endeavors, with Christina gearing up for the release of a new album and a world tour, and Cee Lo developing a scripted series for the peacock network, based on his life (that ought to be interesting!).
So who’s going to be filling their chairs?
Forget the American Idol-esque guessing games!
NBC has already announced that Aguilera and Green will be replaced (again, we stress TEMPORARILY) with Shakira and Usher.
“We are thrilled to welcome Usher and Shakira to The Voice,” the network’s Entertainment chairman, Robert Greenblatt said in a statement. “The addition of these popular iconic artists continues the tradition established by Christina, Cee Lo, Adam and Blake. Doing two back-to-back cycles of this show requires a tremendous amount of time, and we are happy to accommodate the commitments made by Christina and Cee Lo. The participants on our show benefit from our coaches’ expertise and their continued success in the music business allows for significant new contributions to the contestants when they return.”
What do you think about Christina and Cee Lo’s hiatus from The Voice? Are you excited to see how Shakira and Usher get along with Blake and Adam, or will you miss the original coaching crew next season? Sound off in the Comments section below.
