In an industry where drama is the norm, it’s nice to see a star on one TV show supporting someone featured on the competing network. That is exactly what The Voice judge and mentor Christina Aguilera is doing. Christina wants the world to know that she is capable of sharing the spotlight with fellow pop star and The X Factor judge Britney Spears.
Simon Cowell and Blake Shelton may currently be in the midst of a rather nasty feud, but that doesn’t mean costars Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears are about to follow suit. In fact, Christina’s excited to have her former Mickey Mouse Club costar join the reality singing circuit. She’s also cool with Mariah Carey being a part of American Idol.
In a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest (also part of a competing reality series) Christina Aguilera came across as friendly and gracious. “I welcome them [Britney Spears and Mariah Carey] on to the TV family, it’s a fun place to be. I know that our shows all have different formats and everything, but in all honesty we’ve been in this business together for a long time. I have nothing but ultimate respect for Britney and Mariah and what they do…There’s room for all of us divas on TV.”
It’s cool that Christina has this viewpoint, but we’re going to go ahead and assume that the same does not go for the execs at NBC. After all, they did air the third episode in one week during the season premiere of The X Factor. As Simon Cowell pointed out, that typically isn’t done, even in the cut-throat world of TV.
What do you think of the current Voice vs X Factor battle? Should the head honchos at NBC adopt Christina’s approach? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
